Hello Parents and Students:
The Fifth Grade Teachers would like your feedback about a potential field trip that we'd take to watch a play about the Civil War. I have placed a poll on my blog, please take the time to answer the question. Thank you.
Also, I have placed information about the Kane County Cougar's game/February reading minutes on my blog in my previous post. Please scroll down to read it.
This week's upcoming schedule includes:
Fifth Grade Music Concert: Tuesday, February 5th, at 2:30 and 7:00pm (for parents) Please arrive with your child by 6:30pm. They should go straight to their classrooms.
Wonder field trip @ Metea Valley HS-Wednesday, February 6th.
Science Night: Thursday, February 7th 6:00-8:00pm
Robert Crown follow-up: Friday, February 8th at 1:30pm. (in class)
Here's what's going on in 5B this week:
Spelling: We are on Unit 19 this week. The pretest will be on Monday and the test on Friday.
Language Arts: In grammar this week, we will continue to work on adjectives and we will be introduced to action verbs. We will continue to read and discuss the book, Wonder, and attend a field trip on Wednesday to meet the author of Wonder, R.J. Palacio. Extended responses in writing will be our focus. We will complete an extended response about the book, Wonder, and we will begin comparing and contrasting two different books using a venn diagram.
Math Accel: Currently, we are in Unit 4 and this past week we discussed prime factorization and greatest common factor. On Monday, we will begin working on finding the least common multiple of two or more numbers and multiplying decimals.
Science: We will be taking a science test late in the week. We will make our own study guides on Monday or Tuesday. The test will be a one question essay and will need to include key words that we discussed in science. We will go over these words when we make our study guides.
Social Studies: We will be switching back over to social studies this week and pick up where we left off with the events leading up to the Revolutionary War.
That's it for now! Enjoy the weekend!
