Hello Parents and Students:
Just a reminder that we do have a field trip on Tuesday, March 12th, to the Paramount Theater in Aurora. We will be viewing a play about the Civil War. There will be no hot lunch served this day as we will be returning to school after our normal lunch time. Please send a sack lunch/drink with your child on this day.
Also, since we will be going to a theater, please have your child dress in appropriate theater attire on this day.
Here's what's going on in 5B this week:
Spelling: We are on Unit 23 this week. The pretest will be on Monday and the test will be on Friday.
Language Arts: Our main focus will be on science and social studies this week. We will be transitioning out of social studies but we still have some topics that we need to discuss. We will have a test on Wednesday that will be on the material that was covered in the video we watched entitled, America: The Story of Us. We made a study guide together in class which was sent home a couple of days ago. Before we dive into our new science topic, Digestion, we will be discussing oral health such as teeth and gums, parts of the tooth, tooth and gum diseases and caring for your teeth. We will be taking a quiz on this material early next week. We will also continue to work in our TFKs and our topic is nutrition in schools. The students will be creating their own food/diet journals in class. In writing, we will continue to work on our courage books.
Math Accel: We will continue in Unit 5 this week. We have discussed integers, rational and irrational numbers and coordinate graphing. We will finish up coordinate geometry and move onto isometry transformations.
Social Studies: We will review Chapter 9, which goes along with the video we watched this past week, and the students will be tested on the information from the video on Wednesday.
Science: We are moving back into science this week and will begin with oral health. We will then begin covering the process of digestion.
That is it for now. Enjoy the weekend. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me.
Thank you!
Delissa Bennick :-)
