Hello Parents and Students:
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a School Improvement Planning day, therefore, there is no school for students. Enjoy the day off!
Here's what's going on in 5B this week:
Spelling: We are on list #30 this week. The pretest will be on Tuesday and the test will be on Friday. This is the last official spelling list of the school year, however, I will be making shortened lists for the next couple of weeks that will relate to the curriculum.
Language Arts: We have a lot going on in language arts currently. First, we should be finishing up our documentaries this week and I have started uploading them to You Tube. Stay tuned for more information regarding this. So far, the documentaries look incredible! Next, we will continue to work on our memoirs. We discussed what a memoir is and many of the students have chosen a special event or time in their life to write about. We have just about finished up our read aloud book and I am going to try to squeeze in one more before this school year is over! We will be reading a story from our anthology about Lewis and Clark since they are part of our social studies focus currently.
Math Accel: We completed our Unit 6 test and have started working in Unit 8 which focuses on unit rates and ratios. Since some of Unit 8 is review, it shouldn't take us too long to get through it. Then, we will begin the last unit of the year. Remember, Unit 7 and 10 were both moved to different grade levels.
Social Studies: We are discussing the Westward Movement, Lewis and Clark and the Louisiana Purchase. We have been making a sketch of the Louisiana Territory and labeling all of the states that were acquired during this profitable purchase from France.
Science: We will be returning to science next week and will be working with microscopes.
Have a great week everyone!!!
Mrs. Bennick :-)
