There are no reminders this week!
Here's what's going on in the curricular areas this week:
Word Study: This week we will be focusing on prefixes and their definitions. The prefixes have been posted to the blog. The test will be on Friday.
Math Acceleration: We will begin Unit 3 this week. Unit 3 focuses on Rational Numbers. The learning standards will be sent home with your child this week. Our first lesson will be on defining what a rational number is and integers.
ELA: We continue to move along in our current read-aloud book, The Liberation of Gabriel King. We had some great discussions last week about 1976, Jimmy Carter, the Bicentennial, small town Georgia and other pertinent events that are related to the book. We also completed some awesome posters with words and pictures to describe the previously mentioned events. This week, we will be reading and discussing another book related to our theme of Courage entitled, Confessions of a Former Bully. Our citizenship lessons will continue this week as well which are focusing on bullying.
Science: Last week we began working on our periodic table element journals. We will continue that this week. We will also be discussing magnetism and will complete an experiment or two during class about what magnets attract and repel.
