Here's what's going on in 5B this week:
Reading- This week in reading we will be working on test taking skills, extended response writing using Time For Kids, our reading anthology and ISAT sample tests. There's a variety of things going on this week during reading time! We will also have our sixth bully lesson this week.
Flex.- During flex, we will begin using our ISAT coach books. These books are an excellent way to prepare for the reading ISAT test. The ISAT test will be the first week of March this year. We will use these books for the next three to four weeks during flex. time.
Writing- The students were just introduced to our next writing activity today. This activity will involve both research and creativity. The students will be researching an event in history and will then create a factual timeline using this information. Then, the students will make another timeline that will somehow change the course of history. This is where the creativity comes in. The students are very excited about it and were brainstorming various topics to research today during class.
Math Accel- I was able to find a few websites that you might find beneficial when preparing your child for the upcoming PA math test. The following are the links to them. When you visit these websites, pay special attention to the areas that will be on the PA math test such as Algebra (7th & 8th grade), Mathematical Reasoning (word problems), Numerical Reasoning (number patterns) and Spatial Reasoning (folding/3 dimensional shapes).
We will finish up Unit 6 on Monday. Students were given the Unit 6 study guide today and it will be due next Thursday. The Unit 6 test will also be next Thursday.
